Consultation & Planning

A Chip & Co Curbing specialist will meet with you to understand your vision for the new curbing. We'll provide concrete samples to help you choose the perfect color, pattern, and/or stamp for your space. After selecting your options and measuring the area, we'll provide an on-the-spot quote. You can then schedule your project or take your time to decide.
Preparation & Installation

Ensure your sprinkler system is turned off the day before your project starts. On the day of, we'll do a final walk-through and mark the exact placement of your new curbing. We'll remove any existing edging and prepare the ground by removing 1.5-2.5 inches of sod for a solid foundation. Our team will mix the concrete on-site and use a curbing machine to pour your custom curb. After the concrete is set, we'll stamp or carve your chosen design, cut control joints, clean up the area, and apply a protective sealant.
Curing & Enjoyment

For the first 48 hours, avoid any contact with the new curbing (including pets and sprinklers). The concrete will reach its full strength in about 28 days, but you can start admiring and enjoying your beautiful new curbing well before then.

The border consists of one continuous piece of concrete. The cuts you see every few feet are expansion/control joints.

No, the base colors are mixed into the concrete and will not flake off or disappear over time. In the stamping process, secondary colors are added to the surface and then protected by the sealant.

Control joints are cut into the border to absorb any movement that may occur during freeze/thaw cycles.

We take every precaution to minimize the possibilities of cracking. Control joints, plasticizer/water-reducing additives, blended polymer admixtures, steel cable and a solid base are all factors that work together to add strength and prevent cracking. Despite these precautions, it is not uncommon to see hairline cracks over time.

As with other concrete products, curbing is very low maintenance. You will want to reapply a sealer every 2-3 years to better protect it and to enhance the color. We recommend spraying a solvent-based cure/seal sealer on with any pump-up sprayer.

Most jobs can be prepared, installed, completed, and presentable in just one day. There will be no damage to your landscape. We do not use any large motorized machinery during the installation process. All products are mixed on site in a trailer built for this process.

It is important to keep guests, children, and pets away from the curb for the first 48 hours, as it is very vulnerable during this time. Sprinkler systems should also remain off during those 2 days. It takes approximately 28 days for the concrete to cure to its full strength. Please wait a minimum of 4 days before push mowing against the curb and 7 days for riding mowers.

Concrete border prices are based on multiple factors, including the footage of the project, your location/distance for us to travel, and choices of color, pattern, or stamp. We offer a free no-obligation quote and expect no deposit down. There are certainly cheaper landscape edging alternatives available, but none compare to the quality and beauty of our permanent durable concrete edging.
